OverviewThe School of Education is a complex academic unit whose
mission is to provide leadership in advancing the theoretical base
of education, analyze the complex social environments of education,
and promote the improvement of educational practice. A central
mission of the School of Education is to improve teaching and
learning for all students in our schools by preparing exemplary
teachers, administrators and school psychologists in exemplary
professional preparation programs. The School's credential programs
emphasize working with diverse students in urban settings and
provide an innovative approach to professional preparation relevant
to the age and grade level of the credential sought. BSE programs
combine the credential with the master's degree, so that our
students have thorough grounding in educational theory, research,
and practice to meet the challenge of working with all types of
students. The school employs approximately 400 staff, faculty,
students, and researchers, and enrolls about 350 students per
year.ResponsibilitiesSpace
- Oversee the use of shared spaces (classrooms, conference rooms,
student study room, hotel workstations, etc.), and conduct regular
periodic rounds to ensure that spaces are in order. Coordinates
response to urgent facilities requests, maintenance, and repairs as
needed with Facilities and Custodial Services.
- Communicate and implement cleaning guidelines, rules and
procedures to ensure our shared facilities, particularly
kitchen/eating areas are kept in good condition and meet building
standards.Equipment
- Acts as department equipment custodian through the equipment
tracking system(s) and conducts department inventory controls,
including processing and maintaining records. Responsible for
storage of all surplus office equipment and furnishings and
coordinating disposal of unneeded equipment and furnishing. Back up
support for printers, classroom AV, and workstation setup and
break-down, including addressing ergonomic needs and/or disability
accommodation needs of users. Supports scheduling of equipment and
physical set-up/break-down for events (ex. rearranging furniture
and coordinating Facilities support as needed).Business Services
- Responsible for purchasing general supplies, and equipment and
supports mail services. Serves as back-up for administrative
operations including room scheduling, and event support. Provides
regular updates of department maps, provides input to the campus
space survey annually, and facilitates telecom requests. Act as a
back up for the department room scheduler as needed.Access Control
- Serves as "Department Access Key Controller" as defined by the
UCPD Access Control Policy, maintaining accurate records of all
access control activities, ensuring appropriate authority prior to
issuing keys, ordering replacement keys as needed, recovering
department keys from departing personnel, reporting any failure to
recover access control keys to department management and UCPD, and
securely storing unassigned keys in the department's UCPD-approved
cabinets.Safety
- Acts as Building Coordinator for organization emergency /
disaster preparedness for assigned venues, serves as the
communication liaison between organization service agencies and
building occupants, and prepares building response plans and
coordinates education and planning in this area for building
occupants.
- May act as representative of department on campus building /
emergency committees and is responsible for departmental compliance
with OSHA / EH&S regulations regarding state and organization
policies and procedures. Works to implement safety and emergency
preparedness policies and procedures with staff, including
maintaining first aid supplies, fire extinguishers and other
safety.Project and Program Support
- Works with management to coordinate schedules and access needs
among building occupants, contractors, and vendors to accommodate
periodic cleaning, maintenance, and/or capital improvements.
Manages all department events and facilities work orders, provides
updates and follows through to completion. Ensure department
adheres to building and campus policies around facilities including
union postings, covered services, etc.Other Duties
- Performs special projects as assigned and ongoing professional
development activities.Required Qualifications

- Must demonstrate proficiency with Google Suite (email,
calendar, docs, sheets, forms, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite,
especially Word and Excel.
- Absolute reliability to meet and communicate about
deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of / or ability to quickly learn University
and departmental rules, regulations and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent
experience / training.Salary & BenefitsThis is a limited, part-time
(20 hours per week) for approximately 11 months (not to exceed 900
working hours).This position is eligible for CORE-level benefits.

compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary
outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range
takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in
making compensation decisions including but not limited to
experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and
certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and
organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be
offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position.
Salary offers are determined based on final candidate
qualifications and experience.The budgeted hourly range that the
University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $39.49 -
$45.37 (stepped rates).The automatic conversion to career status
will not occur as the position into which the employee is hired is
not an "ongoing" position, in that the position is established and
